In 2005, Massimo Banzi, with David Mellis, another IDII student, and David Cuartielles, extended Wiring by adding support for the cheaper ATmega8 microcontroller. The Wiring platform consisted of a printed circuit board (PCB) with an ATmega128 microcontroller, an IDE based on Processing and library functions to easily program the microcontroller. The project goal was to create simple, low cost tools for creating digital projects by non-engineers. Casey Reas is known for co-creating, with Ben Fry, the Processing development platform. Still, those modules were pretty much static and fixed to a place. Even older versions had modules in window drawers. The old version had bottom and right shelves (plus the sidebar), each of them could accommodate four modules. As you probably know, modules aren’t anything new to Path Finder. All other news in this version revolves or are somehow related to modules. The big new thing in version 8 is modules and the way they are organized and used. Hence, Path Finder 8 is the right balance (we believe) between new and old. We needed to still offer some new nice features in order to attract loyal users to upgrade and new ones to purchase. No, we aren’t Apple (think first release of Final Cut Pro X and all the rage it caused in usually firmly loyal user community), we wouldn’t survive that either. We also couldn’t appear with completely redesigned and new application, which would lack many of its previous features people become so fond of. Not to mention many loyal users would probably abandon the application, getting tired and frustrated over everlasting wait for the new version. That would take us many years considering application size and resources we have and we probably wouldn’t survive that long. In this constant race for more features, while becoming more powerful and rich, Path Finder was also becoming increasingly aged. And we were adding more and more… Until we couldn’t keep doing it that way any longer. We got ourselves into a constant drag race between features people wanted and those we could implement in a given time. People were asking for more and we were delivering more. During all those years, Path Finder was becoming more powerful, functional, configurable and feature rich. The name was clearly telling people what the application did (and we also got tired of the old SNAX name as well). This popular feature led to a name change, hence Path Finder. Off-road, they stick to mud paths with confidence. We think the bigger tires add unwanted bounce on suburban side streets. The long wheelbase means it rides well, just a bit more jiggly on pavement than an Explorer. Its 43 cubic feet of cargo volume equals that of the spacious Ford Explorer. The Montero Sport shares the front bodywork of the latest Mighty Max pickup truck (no longer sold in the U.S.), but its full-length ladder-type frame has more in common with that of the bigger Montero wagon, including a 107.3-inch wheelbase. The L-200 is now the Montero Sport in the United States. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi has been building a smaller wagon (seven inches lower and shorter) called the L-200 for Asia and South America. dealers, however, want more SUVs to sell, especially in the under-$30K market. You don't NEED them, but they are nice to have. The software that comes with it is just icing on the cake, access to way more effects that you can import. The Katana has plenty of onboard effect features already built in that you can access really easily. However I disagree that you ever need to plug your Katana into a computer. I agree with this post that the GAFC foot controller is a must with the Katana 100 and I would endorse that amp over the Blackstar series mentioned above. |
